Global Tele-education
Concept and Methodology
Concept
First Lady Michelle Obama’s Let Girls Learn initiative is rooted in the idea that “To educate a girl is to build a healthier family, a stronger community, and a brighter future.” MASS and Strategic Aid Partners share this vision of systemic impact through education and seek to bring Michelle Obama’s vision to Liberia through the construction of a new secondary boarding school—Excel Academy—located just outside the capital of Monrovia. The pedagogical focus of the school will be STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) and will harness expert knowledge in the Bay Area via Strategic Aid Partners to develop and apply curriculum.
Methodology
MASS Design is a team of over 120+ architects, landscape architects, engineers, builders, furniture designers, writers, film makers, and researchers. MASS will build a case for the critical importance of Excel Academy in Liberia. MASS and Strategic Aid Partners will craft a video communications strategy to engage FLOTUS to seek funding for the capital project. MASS will craft the narrative approach and video content for an initial pitch, to be delivered to the Obamas by Strategic Aid Partners network of supporters, such as Gov. Jerry Brown, former Mayor of Boston Ray Flynn, and Secretary of State John Kerry.
